Woooooooshhhh time is flying!

It feels like we've been doing loads of late. Tuesdays and Wednesday have fallen into a nice routine - Wetlands on a Tuesday and Botanic Gardens on a Wednesday. Thursday not really much of anything and Friday we usually see Emma. This week, on top of 'the usual' we spent all day Monday at soft play with the Tees Valley home edders. What a day, a what a mammoth soft play session!!! Bea was KNACKERED by the time we got home. Every evening this week has seen me working. I've got slings to do for other people but I'm also trying to do a couple for me. It's time to abandon the pushchair that we didn't use for the first two years of Annies life, and go back to carrying. it's so much healthier for everyone! Nothing else to report really. I'll be back at some point with a photo update but til then, onwards and upwards!!! I'm off to try the cocoa butter and shea butter whipped body butter that I've got setting in the fridge!!!

Work

To supplement our income and therefore allow us to home educate, I work each weekend.
I've started a small business. I make baby carriers like these ones...

... and I love it!

Sacred Space

We walked from our house into the city last Sunday.

The farm track that leads from our housing estate into the Durham is beautiful. Green, peaceful, easy and bloomin' good exercise. By the end of the 2 mile walk Sylvie and Bea were flaffing and Annabelle was in Mark's arms but they were rejuvenated by juice and food at Weatherspoons!

We will be going back to this tree throughout the year to study how much it changes from month to month. I think it will be beautiful in the summer time - so many branches to bud and leaf.

Inspired by our Little Acorn Guide, we chose our sacred space to photograph throughout the year whilst walking into Durham on Sunday.

Hibernation, time for Hibernation

We started the day by looking at animals that hibernate and where they hibernate. I prepared some A3 sheets a few days ago with pictures of a cave, a tree, some logs, a pond and some muddy burrows stuck to them. The challenge for the girls was to figure out where their printed animals would spend the cold winter months! They loved this activity and loved the book we read however, by the end of the activity Sylvie had put so much snow on her picture, (cotton wool) that it was impossible to see ANY animals!!!

After this we did some letter tile sorting then had a go at some Peter and Jane copy work. By the end of these activities Sylvie had had enough!!! She did really, really well.

Snowdrops

On Wednesday's visit to the Botanic Gardens we noticed that the Snowdrops were out.
It's so good to see such blatant signs that Spring's on it's way.

Yum Yum

Mark took Monday the 23rd of January off work and we had a blast!
We headed to Lickety Splits in Seaham for an ice cream Sunday then we went to South Shields for fish and chips. After that we went to the coast at Seaburn!!! THEN when it got dark we drove out to try and see the Northern Lights, but to no avail. It was f...f...f...freezing. Very, very good day had by all followed by a very good nights sleep!
